Synopsis

Shambhavi Vaze, the young Kathak danseuse from Pune, started her training in Kathak dance from her mother: renowned Kathak Guru Mrs. Maneesha Sathe. She has also had extensive training in Laya- Taal and the aesthetics of Indian rhythm from none other than Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar. She has also trained in Hindustani vocal music with Guru Mrs. Mangala Vaidya.
Shambhavi is a graduate in Business. She holds a Master's degree in Kathak dance from Pune University's Center for Performing Arts. She also holds Diplomas in French and Sanskrit languages. The Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, India's foremost university for music and performing arts, has honored her with three prizes for securing highest scores nationwide at the Nritya Alankaar (Masters) Examination.
As a soloist, she has widely performed in all the major cities and dance festivals of India, to name a few, Sharad Chandrika Festival in New Delhi, Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan, Raindrops Festival, All India Classical Dance Festival in Mumbai, Pt. Vasant Rao Deshpande Smriti Samaroha in Nagpur, Naad Surabhi Festival in Bangalore. With her mother, she has performed and conducted workshops once in Bahrain, thrice in the US, and six times in Japan.
A recipient of a National Scholarship for Dance from the Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India, she has also been honored with the title 'Singaar Mani'.
She is an empanelled dancer of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi. She is also a member of the International Dance Council of UNESCO.
She is a member of the faculty at the Center for Performing Arts of University of Pune. She runs a branch of Maneesha Nrityalaya Kathak Dance Institute for the past 14 years in Pune, India, where she is adroitly training the younger generation.
Her choreographic works presented in various stage and television shows have brought her a unique recognition as a choreographer.
