Fr. Herbert J. Ryan, S.J., a theology professor at Loyola Marymount University, engages us in a passionate discussion on the often controversial subject of exorcisms. As one of the primary consultants on the film The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Fr. Ryan uses his expertise in the Catholic Rite of Exorcism to help explain the unexplainable.

Tackling a number of misperceptions and superstitions, Fr. Ryan separates fact from fiction and reveals the true rationale for the practice of exorcisms. He also provides both the background and the details of the sensational exorcism that inspired the film, The Exorcist.
