Homer's Odyssey is a told story - a tellers tale. We read the text and marvel at the genius, but when we hear it told by a masterstoryteller we are there living it - we fight the Cyclops and withstand Calypso and Circe: Penelope will weave her husband home while withstanding the suitors... Telemachus will become a man and stand with his father and Athena to face the suitors. In the end, King and Queen return to the bed made of Olive wood.
