Synopsis

HENDRIETHFILM, Ltd. ENTERPRISES presents an outrageous "King Kong Horror Comedy" of Skull Island, where this gigantic simian is a female and captures a Man and not Fay Wray. On a moonlit night, a battleship collides with a sailboat and leaves a young couple washed up on a prehistoric island inhabited by ferocious dinosaurs, a deadly cobra, SUPERSIMIAN (a female KING KONG), head hunter cannibals and a civilization of glamorious Amazon women on horseback, who worship their captured Tyrannosaurus Rex as a God.

He has been a standup comic, live stage and film actor. His first live stage starring role was of the spiraling down hill antics of "Theo" in the Hawaii Performing Arts Company Production of Lonne Elder's Tony Award Winner, "Ceremonies In Dark Old Men". Hendrieth's next live stage performance as an actor was a co-starring role as the "street wise hustler" in the critically acclaimed Leeward Community College Production of "Hotel Street". His most noted standup comic routines were performed live at the "Blaisdale Garden Cafe & Pub" of the "Fort Street Mall" in Honolulu, Hawaii, available on DVD. His first co-starring film role is as the comical and heroic "Buddy the Gorilla" in "Lost on Adventure Island". Hendrieth remains a member of the Screen Actors Guild since 1976. He has appeared in such television series as "Starsky and Hutch", "Hawaii-Five-0", "Magnum PI" and "Murder She Wrote".

This is his first co-starring role as washed up on a prehistoric island with Anna. He has appeared in "Hawaii-Five-0", "Magnum PI" and countless television series, too numerous to mention.
Mrs. Morrison: Dee Hendrieth | bio
She plays a duel role. She co-stars as the mother of Anna Morrison and she plays the Commander of the Warrior Horsewomen, who on horseback capture Alex and Anna. Dee Hendrieth made her film debut in the title role as a drug addict and drug pusher in a drug abuse drama, "Shades of Grey", that will shock you. This drug abuse drama is not recommended for younger audiences. The language is equivalent to an R-rating by the Motion Picuture Association of America.

He co-wrote this critically acclaimed produced stageplay "Hotel Street" (A Musical Comedy) about Honolulu's red light district and brothels.

A dinosaur movie of course needs dinosaurs. Carvelo spearheaded an impressive quintent of creatures, a Plesiosaurus, a Tyrannosaurus Rex and the giant ape, "Supersimian". He is a life long fan of Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion animation. Carvelo also supervised the construction of the giant mechanical gorilla hand. In reviews, Carvelo's stop-motion animation is compared to the stop-motion animation of Ray Harryhausen.

The miniature sets were either built or detailed by Dane, not only the "Easter Island Heads", but also the miniature cannibal village set, the Amazon Warrior Horsewomen's Temple overlooking the ocean, the model battleship and sailboat, and the gated arch through which the Tyrannosaurus Rex is released by the Warrior Horsewomen.

On the dinomovie family tree, Lost on Adventure Island has no close relatives, only a second cousin, One Million Years B.C. for its dino-scenes, so, Lost on Adventure Island stands alone.

The movie can boast a total of 38 animation cuts, just under half the number in The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms but a substantial amount nonetheless. The Plesiosaurus and Tyrannosaurus sequences have ten cuts apieceCseveral being animation/live-action compositesCwith a nice mix of long, medium and closeup shots. The remaining 18 animation cuts are of Supersimian, divided among four sequences. Some of the effects scenes have problems, yet others can hold up against a lot of better-known, mainstream pictures. Both dinosaur sequences contain some striking images (the T. rex's sinister sneer reminds me of the "Jupiter monster" in Ray Harryhausen's early tests), and the ape's climactic invasion of the native village features a moody, atmospherically-lit animation/live-action composite good enough for just about any stop-motion fantasy film ever made. Buoyed by gorgeous Hawaiian locations, carefully-crafted visual effects, and even an actual luxury sailboat (belonging to one of the investors), the overall production values seem quite opulent.

LOST ON ADVENTURE ISLAND is destine to be a "cult" classic like KING KONG. On a moonlit night, a battleship collides with Anna and Alex’s sailboat and they wash up on a prehistoric island. They first flee from a marauding Plesiosaurus and they begin to explore the island. Along the way, they save an amiable gorilla from a trap and meet this ape’s KING KONG size parent, whom Alex calls “Supersimian”

When the junior ape (nicknamed “Buddy” by Alex) snatches Anna’s necklace, the couple give chase until being captured by Warrior Women on horses, but Anna is abducted from her abductors by cannibalistic islanders and she is taken to their village.

Meanwhile, the Warrior Women lead Alex to their Tyrannosaurus Rex, inside an iron gate, whom they worship as their God, but luckily for Alex, “Buddy the Gorilla” whom he earlier saved from a trap drops him a rope from a cliff. The two pals head off in search of Anna, assisted by Buddy’s towering parent,

The rescuers arrive just in time to save Anna from the cannibals, but one overlooked savage hurls a spear into Alex’s abdomen. Anna screams … only to wake up in a hospital bed with her mom at her side. Yancey Hendrieth borrowed Dorothy’s famous line from THE WIZARD OF OZ”, when Anna says, “There is no place like home,
I’ll never ever leave again!”

“Was I dreaming about that island, Mom?” she asks. “I don’t know, Anna”, her mom replies, “I just don’t know”?
