Synopsis

Nritya Sangam brings two styles namely Kathak from North and Bharatnatyam from South on one platform. An interesting play of similarities and contrasts in music (Hindustani and Carnatic) and dance. Shambhavi Vaze and Parimal Phadke explore the contrasts and similarities between the two styles.
The juxtaposition becomes the forte of Nrityasangam.
Witness the magic, which Shambhavi and Parimal create on stage. Shambhavi becomes Lassya with her soft and graceful lines. Parimal is Tandava with his firm and energetic lines and footwork. Both create fireworks on stage through their rhythmic Sawal Jawaab.
The Abhinaya also brings out the beautiful and subtle emotions between a man and a woman explored through ancient and modern poetry.
Timeless..Nrityasangam becomes a metaphor for eternal blend of energy, form and content.

Dancer: Parimal Phadke | bio
Parimal Phadke , Bharatanatyam dancer from Pune was initiated into Bharatanatyam at the age of 4 by Guru Rema Shrikant of Baroda.. He completed 15 years of training under her. He has been learning the finer nuances of
8haratanatyam from Guru Dr. Sucheta Chapekar from Pune since 1998. A topper from his college, he completed his Masters in Data from the Center For Performing Arts; University of Pune.
He is also receiving in depth training in Bharata Natyam from the senior disciple of Dr. Padma Subramanyam, Guru Jayashree Rajagopala from Mumbai.
Parima! is a recipient of the Natianal Scholarship for Dance, Pt. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar award and Junior Research Fellowship from the UGC. He has performed in the Pune Festival, Natyanjali Festival, Yuva Sangeet Mahotsava.
He was selected amongst 14 dancers in the world for the Experimental International Dance Painting Project, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland in the year 2001, Parimal is also a choreographer for theater and films. He has choreographed for the NFDC film Devi Ahilya Bai' starring Shabana Azmi.
Besides being a performer and choreographer Parimai is an avid writer on dance. He has contributed articles for many web sites like Narthaki, Danceart etc.
His Forte in dance is his research on the concept of a "Hero" or Nayaka. He has created new compositions to enhance the scope of a male dancer in the Bharatanatyam repertoire.
Parimai has been training students in Bharatanatyam; they have been winners in various national dance competitions.
Dancer: Shambhavi Vaze | bio
Shambhavi Vaze, the young Kathak danseuse from Pune, India, started her training in Kathak dance at the age of four, from her mother: renowned Kathak Guru Mrs. Maneesha Sathe. She has also had extensive training in Laya-Taal and the aesthetics of Indian rhythm from; none other than- Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar. She has also trained in Hindustani vocal music with Guru Mrs. Mangala Vaidya:
Shambhavi is a commerce graduate. She holds; a Master's degree in Kathak dance from Pune University's Center for Performing Arts: She also holds Diplomas in French and Sanskrit languages. The Gandharva Mahavidyalaya India's foremost university for music and performing arts, has honored her with three prizes for scoring highest scores nationwide at the Nritya Alankaar (Masters) Examination.
As a soloist, she has widely performed in all the major cities and dance festivals of India. With her mother, she has performed and conducted workshops in, USA, Japan and in Bahrain.
She is a Mumbai Television approved artiste.
She has been fortunate to perform in front of the great artists like Nritya Samrat Pt. Gopi Krishna-ji; Pt: Birju Maharaj-ji, Smt. Rohini Bhate, Padmashree Sitara Devi, Shri Sunil Kothari, Smt. Saswati Sen, Pt. Samta Prasad-ji, Pt.. Hariprasad Chaurasia, etc. and has received` great appreciation from them.

Parimal and Shambhavi both are on the panel of artists of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) & both are members of International dance council of UNESCO. They are recipients of National Scholarship for Dance by Ministry of Human Resources; Govt. of India & have been honored with the title Singaar Mani. They presently work as a visiting faculty in the center for Performing Arts in the University of Pune.
Parimal and Shambhavi have widely performed Nritya Sangam in many prominent cities in India and abroad.. In 2005 their performances at the Houston International Festival and Asian International Festival in Columbus, OH; and a lecture demonstration at the Ohio State University were very well received:
