Synopsis

The award winning documentary, Mardi Gras: Made in China, swiftly follows the path of Mardi Gras beads from the naked streets of New Orleans during Carnival – where revelers party 24/7 – to the factories in Fuzhou, China – where teenage laborers live and thread beads 24/7. Told with humor and curiosity, Mardi Gras: Made in China connects workers and revelers to each other through a disposable commodity: Mardi Gras beads.

Director: David Redmon | bio
David Redmon directed Mardi Gras: Made in China (Sundance, IDFA, Human Rights Watch) and recently completed Kamp Katrina (SXSW, IFF Boston, True/False). Redmon studied sociology and self-distributes his films theatrically, on TV, and DVD with partner Ashley Sabin. Redmon and Sabin founded Carnivalesque Films and both are currently completing a documentary titled Intimidad. Intimidad follows "the other side of intimacy" by focusing on the intimate life of a young woman in Mexico who makes bras for Victoria Secret.
