Patrick Henry: Quest for Freedom
The Rallying Cry for American Independence
Comes to Life in 3-D Animation
Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?...
I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death.
Few speeches stir one’s love for country more than Patrick Henry’s 1775 battle cry to his fellow Virginia legislators. George Washington cheered, Thomas Jefferson clapped, and the war for independence was born.
American Animation Studios is proud to re-create the story behind Patrick Henry’s celebrated speech. Available on DVD in 10+ and 30+ minute versions, “Patrick Henry: Quest for Freedom” transports students to the world of our founding fathers with humor, conversational narration, and the realism of 3-D animation. It’s many unique features enhance both the learning value for classrooms and the viewing appeal for families:
AGE-SENSITIVE: Adapts the scope and presentation of information to the media-literate preferences of students, ages 8 to 13.
3-D REALISM: Humanizes Patrick Henry and his colleagues through the realism of 3-D animation, spoken narration, and the voices of professional actors.
ENTERTAINMENT VALUE: Deepens learning and increases retention through a combination of humor, entertaining storytelling, and advanced production values.
ORIGINALITY: Stimulates interest and sustains attention through original art, scripting, and musical soundtracks.
ETHICS FOCUS: Conveys the profound values and ethical issues faced by leaders who favored independence over British rule, despite its treasonous overtones.
AUTHENTICITY: Puts the basic historical facts in rich historical context gathered from primary sources and archival documents.
American Animation Studios
American Animation Studios was founded by Rob Mercer and John Derrick after Rob went searching for entertaining yet educational videos for his three primary school-age children. Surprised by the lack of options, Rob and John decided to fill the need by re-creating the stories of American heroes and heroines in 3-D animation.
The result is HISTORY’S HEROES, a series of 3-D animated movies depicting pivotal events in American history, as seen through the lives of the people who inspired them. Each DVD also includes supplementary teaching resources and student access to our History’s Heroes web site. “Paul Revere: Midnight Ride” will follow Patrick Henry: Quest for Freedom” later this year.
