Synopsis

Discover the magic of Mono Print Making as world renown artist and educator, Kim Kimerling brings his creations to life and shows you how to use water based printing inks and simple tools to obtain various forms and textures in the art of direct printing. Kimerling will show you his technique in the use of liquid water color that allows the liquid medium to flow, creating beautiful patterns and textures in preperation of a background print, and then overprinting various forms to transfer to the final composition. The artist demonstrates how to print notecards using muliple plates, and also teaches you what Mono Print is and what Mono Print isn't. Kimerling goes further by using multiple plates on his background prints, then touching up with a brush. Modifying the first print and remaking the original produces new and varied results that are further enhanced by the use of a variety of tools that can be purchased at your local hardware or craft store. IF YOU WANT TO LEARN, TEACH; Kimerlings career as an artist and educator began in 1954 with teaching stints at the University of Oregon, Portland State University. The University of Nigeria, several community colleges, public schools, and at a boarding school on a Navajo reservation in Arizona. He has lived amoung the Nez Pierce, the Pima, the Navajo, and the Hopi, and has traveled to Israel, Europe, Africa, Canada, Mexico and Belize. Kimerlings life long pursuit of art has been honed by his years of teaching the craft to others and following the adage; "if you want to learn, teach".
