The morning of October 12, 1864 began as any other for the folks of Davis County, Iowa. While most went about their usual farm chores, others were preparing for the Davis County Fair in Bloomfield.
Just after daybreak, a band of Confederate soldiers dressed in stolen Union uniforms, rode into southern Iowa and began to wreak a day-long streak of terror that began with random robbery and ultimately ended with the murders of three prominent members of the community.
Who were these soldiers and what were their motives? Though robbery may have crafted the illusion that their victims were picked arbitrarily, evidence gathered through the years reveal that the murders were anything but indiscriminate. Somebody had put a price on the three murdered victims heads.
Far North places the audience in front row seat for true murder mystery as suspenseful and compelling as the other great stories about the War Between the States.
