Synopsis

Ride along with experienced storm chasers Scott McPartland, Dave Lewison & Jim Edds as they document some of the most violent weather on Earth. See some of the most dramatic and close-up video of a tornado ever taken; Watch as the glass begins to shatter as softball-sized hailstones pound the chase vehicle; See amazing footage of tornadoes over the water, shot from land and from small aircraft; Plus a "best-of" video compilation documenting the numerous storms that occurred during the historic May 2003 tornado outbreak across several states.

This footage has been aired on CNN, The Weather Channel, National Geographic, The History Channel, The Discovery Channel and other networks. All video is professionally shot, edited and narrated by the storm chasers who witnessed these incredible events.

I moved to the fabulous Florida Keys in 1993 and quickly began photographing the underwater marine environment. In 1996, I worked with the Extreme Encounters gang capturing images of the incomparable Manny Puig swimming with sharks, alligators, and most anything with large teeth. Along the way, I entered the realm of freediving
photography with US Freediving Champion Mehgan Heaney-Grier. Then in 1998, Iaccompanied the US Freediving Team to the World Freediving Cup in Sardinia, Italy.
In 5 years my images and articles had appeared in over 30 magazines and newspapers worldwide. Especially gratifying was a personal letter from Vice President Al Gore after viewing
some of my Florida beaches and underwater images.

Also in 1998, I chased my first Hurricane - Category II "Georges" in Key West, Florida . With the advent of the internet, storm chasers can better track and intercept hurricanes, waterspouts, tornadoes, and anything except sunny boring weather. After watching 110 mph winds blow through Key West I was hooked and now regularly chase hurricanes and waterspouts with video and still cameras.

Living in Florida, the waterspout capital of the world, you can usually find me during May through October following a cumulus congestus line or chasing a hurricane in the tropics. I frequently shoot video for The Weather Channel of same day waterspouts and other weather related events.

Hi, I'm Scott McPartland, and I am a freelance photographer that has been documenting severe weather for over 20 years now out of my hometown of Queens, NY.

Starting in the spring of 1999, I began taking yearly trips to Tornado Alley during May and June to document some of the most violent weather on earth. During the late summer and fall, my attention turns to the tropics where I await, and then intercept landfalling hurricanes along the east coast, and gulf coast of the United States. When I'm not out chasing storms, I can be found roaming the streets of Manhattan adding to my stock video archive, or occasionally shooting video for The Weather Channel.

I'm Dave Lewison, and I've been chasing storms on the Great Plains every year since 1997. However, my home has been beautiful NY State for my whole life. Currently, I live in Dutchess County NY, nestled in the Mid-Hudson Valley.

During 1997 and 1998 I was a participant in Cloud 9 Tours, a storm chase tour group owned by Charles Edwards. Each year since 1999, I've either chased solo, with Chris Kridler from Florida, or helped out with Cloud 9 Tours. For the past three years, I've been teaming up with Scott McPartland (who's also from New York) and we travel out to the plains together every May to document some of the worst weather on earth.

Entertaining, and at times comical, this DVD is perfect for those of us who are dying to go storm chasing but don't have the means to do so. Edds, Lewison & McPartland braved some of the most dangerous conditions on Earth to capture footage of a house being carried away by a tornado, four-inch hailstones battering a car, double waterspouts in the Florida Keys, and a hurricane in Bermuda.

From a tecnical standpoint, the editing and audio are professionally done and the voiceovers are interesting and educational. The DVD includes tracking maps and explanations of the types of clouds that the storm chasers are looking for. Keep an eye out for a visual of another house that sustained serious damage from an EF4 tornado. Hint: there's not much of it left!

The grins on these guys faces throughout the DVD show that they're doing what they love, and the viewer can't help getting swept up in the excitement.
