• The President of the USA: Reggie Bannister | bio

  Musician, Actor, Screenwriter, Activist - Reggie Bannister is best known for his starring role as the intrepid ice cream vendor-turned hero in the action-horror series, Phantasm I-IV. His career spans over 40 years in television, film and entertainment with a varied background that includes writing, acting and music. Reggie's latest work, "Final Curtain," with Glenn Shadix, is in post production. Scheduled for release is "Spring Break Massacre" as a local sheriff. Recent work includes "Mangler Reborn" as a burglar, "Interstate" as a Sheriff, in "Journeyman" as a soothsayer, "Song of the Dead" as the US President in a musical horror film, "Last Rites" as a wayward Viet Nam Veteran who teams up with two gangs (one Hispanic and one Black) in East L.A. to face down a zombie attack and in "Cemetery Gates," as a scientist who comes to know his son as a man while battling a seven foot demon he helped create in an effort to save the world, and appeared in "Bubba Ho-Tep" - a mummy movie with Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis (deceased).

  As a musician, Reggie has released five musical albums which include rock, country and folk and is a veteran of stage and television since the `60s having played with such groups as Stone Country and Greenwood County Singers. He continues to write, play, compose and is currently promoting his album, "Fool's Paradise," with promises of compiling an anthology album of earlier works. Reggie's music scored a recent short music video, "Land of the Free," after the title song, documenting disappearing park land in Long Beach, CA. Another, "Love That's Gone," which he co-wrote and co-produced protests the Yellowstone Buffalo slaughter, continues to receive critical acclaim.

  Reggie's ear for new and upcoming talent goes beyond music. Being sensitive to the needs and desires of all artists in the entertainment industry, he is on a constant vigil to assist and promote undiscovered talent. A gifted writer, Reggie has co-authored two scripts and is working on another horror piece. He is the Vice-President of an independent production company in Crestline, California, called Production Magic, Incorporated. He is a popular guest and speaker at charity events and genre' media conventions and is a co-founder of the Crestline Creative Arts Foundation, a non-profit arts charity.

  Other film credits include Kenny & Company, Survival Quest, Silent Night, Deadly Night IV: The Initiation, That little Monster, The Demolitionist, Wes Craven's Wishmaster, Phantasm IV: Oblivion, and most recently Wolfs Bane. There is currently a move to film Phantasm V, in which Reggie will return to his starring role of "Reggie" in the fifth installment of the series. When asked to what he attributes the popularity of his heroic character, he states, "I think (Reggie) is seen as `every man's man.' Not pretentious, often flawed, but with a lot of heart and guts. He does the things, and reacts the way, most men feel they would given the same situation." he added, "There's a lot of camp in scenes with Reggie. The humor comes from his being so... human."

  Reggie is a Viet Nam Veteran, and a native of Long Beach, having graduated from Poly Tech High and Long Beach City College. He resides in Crestline, California, with his wife, Gigi Fast Elk and their two cats.

• Director: Chip Gubera | bio

  In the last 10 years Chip Gubera has directed and/or produced four feature films and over 20 short films, 13 of which have been accepted at film festivals around the world. Seven of these films have won awards at festivals worldwide and three have had distribution. A short film titled Song of the Dead was released in 2004 on Fangoria Magazine’s Blood Drive hosted by Rob Zombie. From the short film came the feature length zombie-musical also titled Song of the Dead. Song of the Dead, Gubera’s first feature film starring Reggie Bannister (Phantasm 1-4 and Bubba Ho-Tep), has currently been screened at several national and international festivals and has won awards in the US, Spain, and Argentina. Song of the Dead will be released on DVD in late 2007. Gubera lives in Columbia Missouri where he teaches media technology in the IT Program at the University of Missouri. Recently he completed two feature films in conjunction with the University starring legendary Mexican masked wrestler Mil Mascaras titled Academy of Doom and Mil Mascaras: Resurrection, which he co-directed with Andrew Quint. A third feature in conjunction with the University titled English: 301 is currently in post production.

  James Robert Swope (aka ‘Bob’) has spent the majority of the last 20 years working in editing and post production in New York City, during much of that time in association with documentary filmmaker and Peabody recipient Bud Greenspan. As part of his company Cappy Productions from 1984 through 2004, first on staff and then as a freelancer, Bob worked on many films that aired nationally on networks including the Disney Channel, PBS, Showtime and Discovery, as well as corporate image pieces, usually credited either as an editor, or post-production manager. Bob was one of 3 editors that won Emmy Awards for Best Editing, on the 1994 Winter Olympics film “Northern Lights.”
  
  Other varied freelance work in New York include promotional pieces for MasterCard and 2-xist Jeans, and HD programming for Rainbow Media’s VOOM about artists Kahn & Selesnick.

  Since 2000, independent film work primarily as a producer and editor has become a dominant passion, collaborating frequently with Chip Gubera on many short films. “Song of the Dead” is the cumulation of their efforts together.

  He attended the University of Missouri, graduating in 1982 with a B.A. in Communication Studies, taking many classes in Film History, Theater and Music. Other studies include the University of Southern California’s USC-Universal Film Program (1984), and a year of continuing education in the Computer Technology and Applications Program, at Columbia University in New York City.

• Producer: Anlon O'Brian | bio

  A multi-media artist, Anlon O’Brien received her B.A. in Studio Art from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, specializing in Painting, Jewelry and Fiber Arts. O’Brien exhibits acrylic paintings on canvas in multiple solo exhibitions throughout the Midwest; she also functions as a publicist, promoter, writer and illustrator for various publications.

  O’Brien possesses over ten years experience as a makeup artist, body painter and henna artist. Her work appears at festivals across the nation including New Orleans’ Mardi Gras, and the Kansas City and Greater St. Louis Renaissance Festivals. She also serves as a makeup artist in both commercial and residential settings and for independent film.

• Director of Photography: Gene Ertel | bio

  Gene Ertel is a Film & TV Producer for the University of Missouri. He Graduated from MU in 1985 and moved to Kansas City where he worked as the Creative Services Director, Production Supervisor for TeleCable Targeting in Overland Park, Kansas. Gene then ventured out on his own as a freelance director in the Kansas City Metro area, specializing in automobile advertising. He has worked as a grip for HBO Film Truman, Warner Brothers Mars Attacks, and Sabin

  Entertainment Sweet Valley High. Gene is an avid creator and supporter of Independent Film. His films have been screened at the SXSW film Festival in Austin Texas, The Chicago Underground Film Festival, and the Kan Film Festival in Lawrence Kansas, among many others.
