Synopsis

The beloved song comes to life as Mango and Papaya try to find their way home. Along the way they make all kinds of new friends and learn that everyone has a home. Special stops at a zoo, an aquarium, a farm, and the Jumbo Shrimp Circus.

The Wheels on the Bus Video delivers all the classic verses of the world-famous song - The Wheels on the Bus, along with clever new verses and brand new songs, all sung by Roger Daltrey of The WHO and the riders on the bus.

Mr. Daltrey is the voice of Argon the Dragon, the driver of the bus. This combination of live action, animatronics puppetry, and computer animation follows a monkey and a toucan as they ride the bus all over town trying to remember where their home is. Along the way they visit a farm, a zoo, the Jumbo Shripm Circus and an aquarium.

With its combination of infectious music by composer Laura Hall, spectacular photography of over fifty animals, and eye-popping animation, The Wheels on the Bus Video gives children an experience that is both entertaining and educational.

The DVD offers some wonderful features, such as AUTO-START, where the program automatically begins when it is inserted into the player, a lyric sheet for singing along, a parent’s guide to learn more about the important socialization skills in this DVD, and a Behind the Scenes video that gives kids a look at exactly what went into this elaborate Hollywood production.

Janie Escalle, now an 8th grader, debuted in her first Wheels on the Bus video when she was 7 years old. She has appeared live on stage in classic musicals such as Annie, Gypsy, Children of Eden, Goodbye Girl, Seussical as well as others in venues around San Diego such as The Walk Resort, The Moonlight Ampitheatre, Carlsbad Cultural Arts Theatre and Mira Costa Community College. Janie attends five dance classes per week which includes Tap, Jazz, Ballet and Lyrical. She enjoys singing with the performing show choir at school and is proud to have been a part of the Wheels on the Bus series
Voice of Argon the Dragon: Roger Daltrey | bio
Roger Daltrey is a rock vocalist, songwriter, and actor, best known as the founder and lead singer of English rock band The Who. He has maintained a successful musical career as a solo artist and has also worked in the film industry, acting in a large number of film, theatre and television roles. n 2003, Roger Daltrey was honored by Time Magazine as a European Hero for his work with the Teenage Cancer Trust and other charities. "The Wheels on the Bus Video gave me the chance to do something different," says Daltrey, "It's a great way of introducing music to a whole new generation of kids - maybe even the grandchildren of teenagers that grew up listening to the WHO!"

RANDALL FREDERICK is a Producer for The Wheels on the Bus series. Randall has worked on all three titles for the series and has been producing films and videos for over twenty years. He has won the Best of Festival at the British Medical Association Film Festival, top honors at the International Film and TV Festival of New York and the National Educational Film/Video Festival, as well as two cum laude awards at the Medicalina Festival in Italy.

Over the last 10 years, Mr. Frederick has produced more than 100 corporate videos and dozens of corporate events for numerous clients, including Palm, E*TRADE, 3Com, Informix, Cisco, Adobe, Cadence Design Systems and National Semiconductor.

Laura is best known as the improvisational pianist on WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? In addition to composing the music for The Wheels on the Bus Series, Laura has also written and produced two albums of original children’s music, I SEE A TIGER and COME JOIN THE PARADE. She wrote the music for the TELL ME A STORY series of cd,’s, as well as several independent films, including the award winning documentary, SWIMMING IN AUSCHWITZ. And she recently released her first cd of original faith based songs, A WOMAN OF FAITH.

In this entertaining combination of live action, puppetry, and computer animation, a pair of puppets try to find their way home, and the familiar pre-school song comes to life in a jolly bus ride adventure, making stops at real-world locales – a farm, the Los Angeles Zoo and the Aquarium of the Pacific. The Who's Roger Daltrey is the agreeable voice of bus driver Argon, a green dragon. The star is an adorable find: 9-year-old Janie Laurel Escalle, a perky moppet with a sweet singing voice and oodles of personality. And the “making of” DVD extra, showing the behind-the-scenes stuff, is nearly as good as the main attraction.

Small children will love "The Wheels on the Bus: Mango and Papaya's Animal Adventure" for its bright colors, gentle pace and upbeat tone. Parents will love it because the DVD has an option called "Play Video Over and Over" - - so parents can hear, ad infinitum, the title song performed by none other than the Who's lead singer Roger Daltrey moonlighting as a large green dragon. And you're going to hear the same song roughly 10 million times, so it might as well have some soul. "Wheels on the Bus" expands on the familiar, bouncy children's tune about people on a bus going up and down, up and down, up and down, etc., with simple, low-tech computer graphics mixed with live actors and puppets. The bus, driven by Daltrey's dragon, stops at an aquarium, a farm, a clown show, a gas station and a zoo, covering such themes as nutrition and opposites. There's wonderful footage of fish and farm animals that very young children (age 1 or so) will find mesmerizing, and older kids (say, up to age 4) will enjoy the musical numbers and repartee between a talking monkey and a toucan. An extra, "Making of Wheels on the Bus," shows how the actors and artists put the video together. The shot of Daltrey in the recording studio gently crooning the title song is worth the purchase price.

Do you ever wish that your kid's could be content and calm for 30 minutes, just so you could cook dinner? Well here's your solution. Wheels on the Bus is extremely captivating. Mango and Papaya need to find their home, just one problem, they can't remember where it is. Take a ride along with them as they visit Aquarium of the Pacific, Farm Animals and finally the zoo. As a warning to the adults, if you see even two minutes of this fun and exciting journey, you too will be sprawled out on the couch to see where they end up. I recommend this video to anyone with a keen sense of adventure.
