Synopsis

A Tortuous Twosome of Female Terror!

Night Of Evil (1962)
Dixie Ann Dikes (Gaye) is looking for a fresh start. Released from a girl's home at age eighteen after being victimized in a brutal rape, she moves to Colorado for a fresh start, entering a beauty pageant and winning the crown. When she meets a handsome and charismatic man named Chuck Logan (Campbell), it really seems as if things are going her way. Unfortunately, Dixie has not yet seen rock bottom, for Chuck is an escaped convict who will drag Dixie through the muck, then send her spiraling down into a seedy world of strip clubs, armed robbery, and attempted suicide!

Stark Fear (1962)
Ellen Winslow (Garland) only wants to be loved, but she's chained to a bitter, resentful husband named Gerald (Homeier). Gerald's career is in a tailspin, so Ellen gets a job to help them both out. This only serves to infuriate Gerald: convinced that she is cheating on him with her new boss, he disappears in a jealous rage. Feeling guilty and responsible, Ellen goes looking for him, and soon discovers that Gerald has a secret past. Following this trail, she is repeatedly subjected to abuse and painful humiliation... but ultimately finds salvation with an unlikely ally. Perhaps Ellen is finally ready to move on - too bad Gerald is not!
Stark Fear is a surprisingly dark and brutal film - Beverly Garland reportedly declared it her least favorite project of her whole career. Listen for the freshman efforts of famed composer John Williams (Star Wars, Saving Private Ryan, JFK), who contributed to the musical score.
