Hungarian Concerto
In today’s changing world it is difficult to hang on to traditions. What’s more, our attitude towards traditions have changed as well. The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble took this recognition to form the basis of its Hungarian Concerto dance production, searching and showing the elements they find valid, valuable and still relevant in our days.
The creators of Hungarian Concerto were inspired by the world renowned Hungarian composer and pianist, Bela Bartok in preparing this program. His spirituality and life work is one of the most convincing proof how traditions and modernism complement each other.
This production of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble is a complex dance theater, in which traditional folk dance, village and contemporary music, modern scenic stage means and dramaturgy create a universally valid contemporary theater.
In the program the most treasurable pearls of Hungarian folk music and folk dance shine in a whirling colorful string, from the acrobatic virtuosity of mens’ dances, the lyricism of girls’ dances, the fiery magic radiating from the couple dances, to the examples of rich vocal and instrumental selections from Hungarian folk musical culture.
A splendid, inspired and spectacular show.
