Synopsis

Granny Grace is a true granny clown who cares about kids. She brings ageless fun to "little kids" of all ages.

In Granny Grace’s new movie, she takes the children in her live audience on an amazing journey of love and fun. Her clown character identifies with the children by showing them how she likes the same things they like. Weaving her concoction of silliness, interaction and suspense she shows the children a brand new box of crayons that mysteriously disappear, a magic coloring book where pictures appear and disappear, balloons romping toward the ceiling, a story of intrigue, a goofy song bringing laughter and much more.

Granny Grace always includes special magic tricks; amazing and astounding her young audience. She also includes important lessons in every educational show she performs by telling the children, “Remember, kids, you are not too little to make a difference. Each time you behave kindly or say I love you, you are making the world a better place!”

Alison is four years old. She loves dressing up. She is very interested in being a dancer and has performed in two recitals. Listen closely for her laugh - its contagious. Her mom and dad are Nathan and Kelly.
Announcer: Ben Halder | bio
Ben Halder made Steve and Penny grandparents for the first time. He is nine years old, loves to read and play sports. He has had bit roles in church and school plays. His mom and dad are Nathan and Kelly.
Balloon volunteer: Lindsey Halder | bio
Lindsey loves to play with balloons. She is six years old. She loves to dance and has been in several recitals. Her favorite color used to be pink and now it is all the colors in the rainbow. Nathan and Kelly are her parents.
Balloon volunteer: Canaan Halder | bio
Caanan also loves to blow up balloons. He is learning to make balloon sculptures. Caanan has appeared in his school choir and loves basketball, baseball and swimming. His mom and dad are Jonathan and Danielle.
Silly Song Volunteer: Lily Halder | bio
Lilianna Grace is five years old. She loves to act and sing. She has performed in her school choir, smiling big as she sings with gusto and does the hand motions. Her mom and dad are Jonathan and Danielle.
Granny Grace: Penny Halder | bio
When I was in first grade, my teacher complimented me by saying how expressive I was when I read out loud. I felt proud and worked to became the best reader I could be. As I grew I found I loved acting and would gather the neighborhood kids together to develop and perform variety shows during summer vacations. As a grown up, I volunteered in Child Evangelism as a Good News Club Leader, teaching and entertaining as many as fifty children weekly after school. I became a local speaker and direct volunteer for Fox Valley Hospice. When I left there I worked as the Children’s Bereavement Director at a funeral home.

Executive Producer: Penny Halder | bio
Penny Halder has been in the caring professions for over thirty years ministering to people who were ill and dying, caring for grieving children and their families and serving as pastoral director at a local nursing home. When she “retired” in 2003 she became interested in presenting fun educational programs for children. She decided the best way to do that was to become a clown. She attended Clown School and graduated in 2005. Here’s what she says about her clown character: “I named my clown character Granny Grace. I chose Granny because of the loving attributes of a granny figure. I added the name Grace because I believe God supplies all the grace that gives me wisdom, energy and skill to reach out to youngsters and help them make this world a better place. I especially enjoy doing shows at daycares and preschools, libraries and park districts.”
Technical Advisor: Steve Halder | bio
Married to Penny for over thirty eight years, Steve is the heart behind the What Clowns Like project. Being computer savvy, he oversaw the whole production from beginning to end tending to many technical details from lights to still photography to computer graphics, and post production of the DVD and package art. He encouraged and “picked up the pieces” that fell from time to time.
Director of Photography: Nathan Halder | bio
Nathan Halder, oldest son of Penny and Steve, makes his living as a videographer for a local TV station. He shoots live news stories as well as in depth ones. Nathan is also very familiar with video editing. He rented two cameras; one for a continuous shot and the other for hand shots. After the shooting was over, he edited the movie and the DVD content. Nathan is married to Kelly and they have three children, all of whom were actors in the show.
Art Director: Jonathan Halder | bio
Jonathan Halder, second son, is an entrepreneur. His company, Halder Consulting, develops and designs web sites for large companies and individual proprietorships alike. He designed the cover art for the DVD. He also helped design the Granny Grace web site, provides web hosting services and is on hand for all sorts of advice. He is married to Danielle. They have two children who are actors in the show.
Sound Design: Andy Halder | bio
Andy Halder, youngest son, has had his own band for over ten years, playing drums. Also an entrepreneur, he has his own business recording local bands and is a Pro Audio Consultant. His day job is Technical Support Representative for a local computer software company. Andy engineered the sound for the live performance and also worked at perfecting it during the post production process.
