Synopsis

What is at the heart of every Shabbos, yom tov, or gathering for Jewish families? What is often the most discussed element of cruises or bar mitzvah celebrations? You ve probably guessed it food. Food is at the center of Jewish life and living. As kosher consumers are more discerning than ever, with growing numbers of high-end kosher caterers, purveyors, and restaurants, choices and availability are increasing annually by leaps and bounds. Adiel Lejbovitz has embarked on a project that will captivate the kosher community. Realizing that there are many cookbooks and demonstrations catering specifically to the Jewish community, Adiel noted that there were no cooking videos that were tailor-made with the Jewish community in mind. This has just changed! No need to adapt recipes because a recipe calls for cream or butter in a meat recipe... Adiel, a Far Rockaway resident, describes his endeavor by highlighting that he is a food enthusiast. My wife and I have gone to food demonstrations during the first year of marriage and thought of the idea of creating a product that people who were interested in cooking techniques can watch and learn from. So we thought, let s put Jewish chefs who have experience working with food on DVD for others to watch, he says. As the idea took off, Adiel put together a star-studded video production with neighborhood personalities Chaia Frishman, owner of Fruit Platters and More; Naomi Nachman, personal chef; Nechama Katz, owner of Elite Caterers; Riki Fishbein, food demonstrator; Rikki Katz, student at Brooklyn College and food enthusiast; and Mike Gershkovich, owner of Mike s Bistro. The DVD, entitled Everyday Kosher Cooking, encompasses much more than demonstrations, but also includes an extras section with demonstrations of knife skills and an introduction to kosher laws for those who may not be familiar. With a running time of over four hours, the viewer remains captivated by the different chefs and their recipes and explanations. Behind-the-scenes clips and interviews with the chefs provide in-depth insight into the production of Everyday Kosher Cooking. Another special feature is the ability to print out recipes presented on the DVD no need to jot down ingredients, necessary utensils, and cooking time! Recipes and demonstrations of fettucini alfredo, tri-color orzo, strawberry mousse, and boneless rib-eye roast are the tip of the iceberg in this multifaceted approach to cooking at home. Everyday Kosher Cooking is the first release in a planned series. Adiel says, We titled it Everyday Kosher Cooking because we wanted to keep a consistent theme with the other DVDs we would be releasing about Shabbos, yom tov, Pesach, BBQ s, sushi, etc. It encompasses a wide range of dishes which a homemaker can prepare for dinner dairy and meat and plenty of dishes which can even be made for Shabbos.
