Synopsis

Best friends forever, Katie and Maura have dreamed of being part of the live mermaid show at Weeki Wachee Spring for as long as they can remember. It's the summer of '79, they're fifteen and everything is changing; especially when Katie discovers Maura kissing another girl.

Katie: Eliza Pryor Nagel | bio
Theater and film actress, Eliza Pryor Nagel, appeared in a recurring role on HBO’s Carnivale. She recently starred as Lucy in South Coast Repertory Theater’s World Premier of the controversial play, Mr. Marmalade. Eliza’s film credits include: Red Is the Color Of and 13 Conversations About One Thing, as well as festival award winners City of Thieves, Weeki Wachee Girls and Mad About Harry. Eliza’s guest starring roles on television include: The Lyon’s Den, Numbers, Gilmore Girls, Angel, Third Watch, The Job, and in the role of Alanis Morrisette’s girlfriend in Sex and the City. In New York, she played Violet in Tennessee Williams’ Small Craft Warnings at The Worth Street Theatre, the lead in Christina at the Soho Repertory Theatre and Agethe in Nothing at Richard Foreman’s Ontological Theatre.

Kim Cummings is the writer and director of the award-winning short film "Weeki Wachee Girls" which has played in over seventy festivals around the world. It was awarded Best Lesbian Short at the 2001 Philadelphia Gay & Lesbian Film, the Silver Illumination Award at the 2001 Crested Butte Reel Fest in Colorado, best narrative short at the 2002 Chicago International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival and was a finalist for the best short film award at the 2000 Taos Talking Picture Festival. "Weeki Wachee Girls" aired in 2001 on KQED, San Fransciso’s PBS station, aired on NY Metro channels last year, and can currently be seen on Atomfilms.com. Her new film, “Flower of a Girl” is currently playing on the festival circuit.
