Synopsis

This is the story of a grave injustice perpetrated upon a seventeen year old boy! It is a one hour documentary on the infamous Martin Tankleff murder case in Suffolk County, New York. The creator and host is retired County Court Judge Stuart Namm, who was the recipient of the prestigious Justice Thurgood Marshall award and others in 1993 for blowing the whistle, by a letter to Governor Mario Cuomo, requesting the appointment of a Special Prosecutor, of murder prosecutions by the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and District Attorney's office. His actions caused a five year investigation by the State Investigations Commission of Suffolk County's justice system which corroborated all that he had found. After almost 17 years as a judge, he was not renominated by his own political party whose county leader, his former law partner, made a deal with the Republican party (the party in power) whereby he extracted four judgeships in exchange for not renominating Namm. Martin Tankleff was convicted in 1990 of the murders of both of his adoptive parents, Seymour and Eileen Tankleff in their luxurious home overlooking Port Jefferson harbor. Although the police claimed to have extracted an unsigned confession from the 17 year old Tankleff, he has professed his innocence from the very time that this confession, which was obtained by a detective's trickery, was purportedly obtained. After over 17 years in a maximum security prison, he was released in December 2007, long after his attorneys presented the real killers to the District Attorney'. However, the DA would not concede that they had made a mistake, and he requested an investigation by a special prosecutor appointed by the governor, Elliot Spitzer, who in turn appointed Andrew Cuomo, the state's Attorney General. This was the first documentary questioning the conviction of Tankleff by the former judge who had sat in on much of the Tankleff trial. The documentary contains crime scene footage, interviews of the main characters in the case, two reenactments of the crime by professional actors, and much more. It is a one hour documentary which has only previously been seen in film festivals and private screenings. It contains original music, created in the United Kingdom, and the entire production was edited in the United Kingdom from video created by a very experienced prize winning crew from the United Kingdom. As of June 30, the charges are slated to be dropped against Marty, making him a free man! However, the true perps who were handed to the Attorney General on a silver platter by Marty's defense team will never be prosecuted!
