Why this series and why now?
By the time they reach their 20's, many actively involved young Christians are drawn away from continuing their faith life. Why is this? Why would vibrant people of faith falter in their core beliefs?
One of the key reasons may be that these young followers lack a strong understanding of why they believe what they believe.
To make matters worse, young believers may aggressively stand by their faith while lacking the ability to explain such to both themselves and others, thus running the risk of being labeled close-minded, arrogant, and even misguided; in essence...a "jerk".
"How To Be A Christian Without Being A Jerk" is designed to train others how to reasonably share their faith in Jesus. In a funny and intellectually satisfying format, young adults will have an opportunity to dig quickly into some of the key reasons why the Christian faith is so compelling.
These sessions are recorded live at Oasis Christian Center in Hollywood, California, led by Dana Hanson. Dana is a friend of Oasis, and lead pastor of one of the larger mainline churches in the Valley in Los Angeles. He has over 25 years experience of outreach and training in an urban setting, actually working in a local congregation. His ministry with Jewish and Muslim friends, prison ministry, and working on local public high school and college campuses has made for an interesting mix of opportunities.
Dana has done much work in the worldview/ science/ philosophy arena for Faithinkubators, an international para-church youth ministry network. For the last seven years, Dana has been personally mentored by Christian thinker and author(e.g. Christian Book of The Year, "The Divine Conspiracy"), Dallas Willard.
