Film Overview

It’s a bright Sunday and the melodies of the choir echo throughout the chapel. Derrick and his parents are enjoying the choir peacefully until Derrick’s sister, who is a pianist suddenly falls down on the ground and becomes unconscious. After this event, Derrick’s family members, who are believed to have led a peaceful and happy life thus far, learn about the daughter’s addiction to Speed.

Derrick’s parents take her to a renown rehabilitation center, but
despite their hope and effort, she is not able to kick the habit and eventually runs away from home. Amidst all of this, Derrick runs into an old childhood friend named Gil and falls to the temptations of drugs.

After running out of money for his serious habit, Derrick is introduced to a Hispanic gangster named Francisco and starts to sell drugs on street. Derrick eventually gets caught by police but is only detained for a week after providing the police with his supplier’s name- Gil.

He is taken to Nanoom (a rehab church) by pastor Han. In the church he meets Yujin, a friend he use to sell drugs to. Yujin was an bright kid but was brought to Nanoom after he lost everything and sustained heavy brain damage from his drug addiction. One day Yujin runs away from the church and commit suicide. Feeling guilty, Derrick starts suffer from the illusions the aftereffects of his addiction are creating in his mind. After coincidentally
witnessing the murder of Francisco and listening to pastor Han’ s past,
Derrick is able to clean himself of all sins.

After a year, Derrick returns home and his family finally has
encountered peace. Then one day Derrick’s sister returns home with an infant in her arms. The family is momentarily chaotic. But through her new grandchild Derrick’s mother is able to realize how selfish she was with her daughter, and their relationship is able to recover.
