ONE DAY IN CLARKSDALE provides a unique and spontaneous behind-the-scenes journey into the last recording session at WROX in Clarksdale, Mississippi as seen through the musical mind and soul of Jimbo Mathus, six time Grammy nominee collaborator. Jimbo brings to life for one final time the music and history buried in the walls of WROX, where the likes of Muddy Waters, Robert Nighthawk, Sonny Boy Williamson and a then-unknown Elvis Presley were all broadcast across the Delta until 1955 when the studio moved to the Alcazar Hotel. Unscripted, unplanned, unrehearsed, ONE DAY IN CLARKSDALE captures these historical moments through the chance encounter of one man in search of reconciliation with his brother through the Blues.
A compelling testimony to the healing power of America's most unique and universal music and it's ability to transcend the boundaries of race, culture and class, ONE DAY IN CLARKSDALE and the musicians involved journey through self-disclosure, self-reflection and the excitement they experience as they render the inner music of the heart into tangible form. Replete with intriguing personal recollections from Texas bluesmen K.M. Williams and "Washboard" Jackson, the documentary captures their performance as the musical group "Trainreck" from which their CD 'The Train Keeps a' Rollin' was created, as well as anecdotes from Clarksdale's local historians and entrepreneurs and a prophetic vision for the future of the Blues from now-deceased bluesman Percy Strother, interviewed between sets at Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero blues club. It all happened on October 10, 2003, ONE DAY IN CLARKSDALE.
