RUBBER TRAMPS explores the lives of people who savor the scenery of the open road. These nomads and gypsies make converted buses, vans and cars their homes. Filmmaker Max Koetter captures the magic of California and Oregon highways and the essence of these road people. With the music of Brett Beardslee and commentary by author and counterculture icon Ken Kesey ("One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest") the film follows 'Juicy Lucy', a Volkswagen Van up the coast through the sands of Pismo Beach and town of Santa Cruz. Kesey's voice is heard throughout the film linking today's rubber tramps with Kesey's famous bus trip in 'Further' during the bygone hippie era.
