Lichaba’s Daughter is a new form of musical called Howey where the tunes are sung in Naga folk tunes (A tribe in India) and the script in English. The story is based on an Ao-Naga Folklore which has been modified and modernized by the writer for a more dramatic appeal. The Naga tribe in India has been known to communicate with one another through singing and they also sing or chant while working in groups or alone. The traditional attires are very colorful and beautiful. The landscapes in Nagaland are a God given beauty. All these unique features add to the attraction of the film.
Lichaba the maker of the world had a daughter called Tsungrosenla, who by chance was married off to an ordinary man. They settled and led a normal family life, till suddenly the wife started reminiscing her earlier days with her father– her beautiful looks and everything she had….. she wanted to get them back and need help from the husband. The husband consented to her pleadings and agreed to get the special food from Lichaba. There on the wife started on a quota of food the husband brought to her from her father’s house. The wife began to glow with beauty and the husband became curious as to how the sudden change in his wife’s physical appearance is occurring- it was mysterious, for he was warned by his father-in-law from the very beginning not to be interested in the food he sent her daughter. Curiosity sets in and he was determined to know what his wife had in her diet. He certainly came to know at the end and, that his wife enjoyed human flesh.
Next step was that the husband was determined to get rid of Tsungrola- he realized, they belong to different worlds. Tsungrola being the daughter of the great Lichaba is heavenly-(God’s daughter)-where as he, being an ordinary man of the world can never be able to cope with style she chose.
He was in such a despair that he wanted to quit her immediately. He succeeded at last. The ending is really sad , dramatic and heartening. Tsungrola turns into a bird. There were those circumstances which led to her transformation- being left on a tall tree, with every situations controlled for her no escape. The story will remain in every heart as it is full of colour and the drama is pleasing to the eyes.
