John Wayland has been building and driving electric cars for over 27 years out of his garage in Portland, Oregon. His 1972 electric converted Datsun, White Zombie, is the fastest accelerating electric car in the world and John drives this same car to work everyday. It is a reliable street legal vehicle that is independent of oil and gas, user-friendly, clean to the environment and runs on 3 cents a mile.
At John’s "Juice Bar" we meet fellow electric vehicle drivers charging up their batteries for the races on Saturday night. Michael Kadie of SSI-Racing.com pulls up in his newly-built electric Ford Cobra kit car stacked with 900 lithium ion batteries. Racing for the first time John helps him with last minute adjustments before he can hit the track.
