Synopsis

The popular website,
"thebigsailboatproject.com" has been visited by boat builders and enthusiasts for nearly a decade. Tracking the progress of 2 girls (Sandra Sims & Gena Hollingshead) and their desire to build a 43 foot steel sailboat in the prairies of Alberta Canada became a
weekly ritual for some, but readers wanted more...

"Why don't you guys make a video?" some suggested.

Well here it is, the first of a 2 DVD set about the ups and downs ..the strife and determination...of taking on such a massive project.

Epidodes 1 to 5, each suitable for 1/2 hr broadcast, cover from the humble first day, up to a finished hull ready to detail.

After having produced several music videos for herslf and other artists, Sandy decided to step out of the realm of beaty-fx, fast action shots, and green screens, into a more reality-based documentary style genre. "Composing a structured and informative series is quite challenging from a video aspect, then scoring it appropriately is an entirely new avenue as a musician" Sandy adds. Stretching her talents over building a boat, designing a formidable website, composing enough music to release 3 CD's over the last decade, and running a successful business, has tuned her to a pretty fast pace of life. But now in early retirement, she has been able to focus all of these disciplins toward a single goal, the release of The Big Sailboat Project series. "This project had all of my attention for the better part of 4 months... So it feels like an accomplishment to me. It's like a culmination of all those learned talents!" she reflects.

Sandy Sims has produced numerous CG effects and purely CG music videos as non-profit for experience in the field. Conception, design, and compositing is handled as a one person pipeline. She has taken up CG animation mostly for the sheer enjoyment of creating a digital world, demonstrating mechanical stuctures, and just making cool music videos!
