Film Overview

Born in Minnesota, Stephen "Sammy" Lind has established himself as one of the most critically acclaimed old time fiddlers in the country. Co-founder of the Oregon based Foghorn Stringband, Stephen has traveled the world playing and teaching a vast repertoire of tunes from Appalachia and the Midwest. His playing reflects tremendous respect and passion for all the players and old recordings he spent countless hours learning from.
Stephen teaches some of his favorite tunes, emphasizing bowing patterns and alternate tunings. Tunes are first broken down line by line slowly, then played up to speed with guitar accompaniment provided by bandmate Nadine Landry.
Recorded on a porch in Southwest Louisiana, with the Bayou Teche flowing in the background, this learning DVD provides an effective yet casual approach to build up a diverse, energetic and compelling repertoire.
