Synopsis

Dangerous Crosswinds, a feature-length drama from filmmaker Bill Millios, is the story of a Pulitzer prize-winning reporter who hits a career roadblock and returns to New Hampshire, where he was raised, to regroup. Once back, he unexpectedly finds himself at the center of a story unlike any he's covered before-one involving his own role in the mercy-killing of a close friend.

Bill Millios is the owner of Back Lot Films, Inc., located in New Boston, New Hampshire. The company has produced three feature-length films, Old Man Dogs (1997), Dangerous Crosswinds (2005) and St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral 1905-2005 (2005) as well as numerous short films and documentaries.

Other credits include New Hampshire On Ice (2003), Bottled Words (1995) and Killing Our Best Friends - The Crisis of Pet Overpopulation (1994).

New Hampshire's HippoPress Newspaper as written that "Bill Millios has earned a reputation as one of the state's leading filmmakers." Variety wrote that "Millios' Old Man Dogs is a heartfelt showcase of raw talent with something to say. A lyrical fantasy - makes masterful use of the New Hampshire outdoor locations. Bill Millios deftly handles emotional scenes.". And the Portsmouth Herald wrote that Millios's Dangerous Crosswinds is "independent filmmaking in its purest form."

In 2008 Millios plans to publish two books, The Winter Thaw (a short story collection) and Four Screenplays (four of scripts published in book-form).

He's currently at work on the script for the follow-up to Dangerous Crosswinds, entitled Death & Glory, which will be a black comedy told in several episodes. A number of experimental preliminary scenes were shot on October 14-15, 2006 at Plum Island in Newburyport, Massachusetts and New Boston/Raymond, New Hampshire. This production will continue throughout 2007.

Millios is also co-founder, with Marc Vadeboncoeur of Goodheart Media Services, of The Digital Filmmaking Workshops, two-day seminars which focus on Producing, Marketing & Screening Your Independent Film.

"Four Stars! This is an interesting film that's really worth looking into. Larry Jay Tish does an excellent job in the lead role. He displays a down-to-earth likeability and a strong screen presence. Don LaBranche is another standout, while most of the scenes he and Tish share also shine. The music is another standout, featuring a soundtrack performed by members of the New Hampshire Philharmonic and local singer/songwriter Laurel Brauns. For a small-scale independent film, it's got quite a few things going for it... Plenty of interesting questions are raised about controversial issues, and the fact that the film has the guts to ask them goes a long way in my book. More good news arrives on the DVD front: it's a solid effort all around, boasting a good technical presentation and a surprisingly solid amount of bonus features. The low retail price is another pleasant surprise, proving that you don't have to pay a premium for a quality DVD package."
